When industrial designer Stefan Schinzinger decided to bring the packability of fine panamas to the classic fedora style, he chose a special panama woven only by a few families high in the Ecuadorian Andes. In place of the usual single straw, two strands are rolled together into a strong spring-like twist that will withstand repeated folding and retain memory for shape.
